[Bug-ddrescue] Advise seeking - if one cannot load the partition table...

Please advise if there's a better group/mailing list to send this to;

        I have a drive that is now refusing to work (was giving me the 
partitions before, now it's just giving me errors in dmesg;

        Using a USB docking station:

        Anyhow, I already have the first 1GB of the drive available and intact 
in an image, is there any way I can use that to furnish the appropriate 
information on sectors/partitions so I can get the rest of the data off the 
drive, or at least even -try- ( right now I can't because the system won't even 
assign a device name to it like /dev/sdc ).

        Again, if this is better suited elsewhere, please direct me, many
