It would be great if "ddrescue --fill-mode" would write location information (offset, sector#) into bad blocks.

This would require either a new option or modifying the syntax of the '--fill-mode' option.

I'll think how to implement it, but feedback is welcome.

I don't mean to over complicate it, but I think it should also state what condition the block is in, either bad-sector, non-trimmed, non-scraped, or non-tried. Recoveries can take a long time and many can get impatient and want to try file recovery before a total finished recovery. Knowing if a file has parts that are not fully processed yet could be helpful.

I would think it should also stay true to the ability to choose which type to fill. Part of me thinks it should even work for good "finished" areas for those wanting total control (although I cannot see a reason why at this time), but another part of me thinks is should not be allowed to fill finished areas.

And maybe it could or should contain both the location for the individual sector and also what block of the logfile it is in? It may help finding what part of the logfile applies to it, but maybe that could be too much information and be confusing.
