        I'd like to add my vote to this as well.  ddrescue in itself
        probably isn't a tool that people who are disinclined to read
        the instructions should be playing idly with in the first
        place, after all, they're trying to recover their drive.

        Note also, if we change the behaviours too much it'll break the
        validity of existing tutorials on the net, not to mention a lot
        of my own scripts too ( at least I can always mod the source ).

        I appreciate the want to safe-wrap everything as a default for
        new users but I fear also this'll cause a backlash from new
        users who find that something else goes wrong and decide to
        blame ddrescue for not having magically protected them against
        their choice to not read the manual before use ( and we've seen
        a few in this mailing list already as it is ).

        It's not meant to be user-friendly, it's meant to be
        admin/tech-friendly.
