Execute permissions |

Hi!
Previously in Linux we were able to set file permissions on a file
(fred.sh) with permissions:
-rwx--x--- owned by root.fred
If you were in group "fred" you could happily run the file fred.sh.
This is so that fred group cannot see the internals of the script.
However on my present system RH7.2 this is not possible. I need to set
the permissions to:
-rwxr-x--- owned by root.fred to get it to run.
Have I missed something or is this a bug/feature.
Thanks
