>From what you said already, it looks like you do not have dir_index turned
on. This is what it would look like if you did:
# tune2fs -l /dev/mirror_a/source | grep features
Filesystem features: has_journal ext_attr resize_inode dir_index
filetype needs_recovery sparse_super large_file
I'm closing this bug because I think this boils down to a suboptimal
configuration on your system, together with a large number of files in one
directory.
Please reopen this bug or open a new bug, if you believe there is still a
problem specifically with findutils.
