I made a mistake, it's actually 1.08.YYYYMMDD .

Aside from that, yes, it's my version numbering.
The package isn't much subject to changes, and a v1.09 is unlikely.

In the near future I expect to submit an updated .pot with some
clarifications (more msgctx and more comments), but I don't expect the
msgstr's to change, because it's a finished game story.
