Since garageband is proprietary software, as well as its samples, this
makes it a suboptimal solution - compared so, e.g., your use of
RoseGarden where we have complete ability to edit the song technically
and legally.

However, this often happens in the free gaming scene (Wesnoth comes to
mind), so this would still be a valuable contribution.

Converting from MP3 to OGG will cause a decrease in quality.  If
possible try to get a .ogg directly, or a lossless format such as .wav
or .flac.  The quality drop won't be critical though, because the
conversion will happen only once.
