Which version of gawk ("gawk --version" will show it)?  And where did
you get the Windows binary for that version?

Also, when you say this happens on Windows 7, does it mean you don't
see such a problem with the same version of gawk on other Windows
versions?

Sorry, I don't understand what exactly do those additional lines say.
Can you please show an example of input file, an example of what you
get in the output, and the exact command line you use to invoke gawk?
In the example above, "%file% and %ofile% are just references to
environment variables; please show the precise command with literal
file names and command-line options.
