Hi.  Thanks for the note.

The correct URL is 

        git clone https://git.savannah.gnu.org/r/gawk.git

Notice the additional `/r' in the path.  The page:

        http://savannah.gnu.org/git/?group=gawk

is incorrect, and I will request that the Savannah folks fix it (cc'ed).
