pdfwriter problem

Hi,

I have encountered a strange problem when trying to convert a ps file to pdf
using ps2pdf.
Using two virtually identically ps files generated by dvips, I get a wrongly
rendered 'hbar'-character in the one but not the other. The only difference
in the original latex source is that the one contains a few lines more text
leading up to the formula that contains the hbar.
The faulty pdf file is at http://www.croczilla.com/~alex/fault.pdf.
Notice that the 'hbar' in the formula at the bottom of the page is rendered
as a minus and then a 'h'.
In comparison, in the pdf file at http://www.croczilla.com/~alex/ok.pdf,
which contains just 2 lines less text leading up to the formula, the hbar is
rendered correctly.
The ps files are at
http://www.croczilla.com/fault.ps
and
http://www.croczilla.com/ok.ps.
The diffs between the ps files are at:
http://www.croczilla.com/pdfdiffs.txt.
I'm using GNU GS 6.51 & dvips v5.86.
The original latex sources use mathptmx.
mathptmx.sty defines hbar as:
\def\hbar{{\mskip1.6mu\mathchar'26\mkern-7.6muh}}

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks
Alex
