In today's lesson, we saw how Jesus combated the temptations of the devil with 
Scripture and won every time! We, too, can learn how to combat the enemy of our 
souls in this fashion. 


"I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives 
in you, and you have overcome the evil one." (1 John 2:14) 


When the Word of God lives in us, so that we are actuated by it, we become 
strong spiritually and can overcome the evil one.
 
However, there is usually a time that we must go through where we do not combat 
the evil one in this manner. We must first run from temptation, radically 
amputate the source of it, and avoid areas of temptation entirely. This period 
of purity from sin eventually leads to power over sin.
 
May God give us discernment to know whether we should turn and flee or use the 
Word and fight. The answer to this dilemma is solved quickly when we examine 
the outcome.
