(1)Instructors I/II in the Department of Information Systems
[Ref. B/541/03]
Duties : Undertake teaching and administrative duties
as directed by the Head of Department that may include
teaching in the evenings or Saturdays, the design of
individual courses, supervision of student projects and
other learning activities such as preparation of study
materials, setting and moderating examination papers.
Requirements : A Master's degree /PhD in Business,
Information Systems or IT disciplines plus working or
teaching experience in business or information systems.
For appointment as Instructor I, a post-graduate
qualification and at least 4 years' appropriate full-
time teaching experience, or at least 6 years'
experience for those without a post-graduate
qualification required. Good knowledge in application
programming (Microsoft), ERP or IS Security and Audit
preferred.
(2) Teaching Assistants in the Department of Information

Duties : Undertake teaching support duties such as
preparation/support for teaching, laboratory/tutorial
teaching and organizing student development activities.
Requirements : A good honours degree/Master's degree in

candidates with a first class honours degree (or
equivalent) who are interested in pursuing a PhD
degree.
(3)Temporary Instructor I/II in the Department of Computer
Science (Appointment for 12 months with possibility of

Duties : Deliver and prepare lectures, conduct
tutorials, mark assignments and examination papers.
Requirements : A Master's degree/PhD in Computer
Science or related areas. Knowledge in software
engineering, internet technologies, or data and
knowledge engineering preferred.
(4)Temporary Office Assistant in the College (Telford
campus) (Appointment for 12 months) [Ref. C/R/418/03]
Duties : General maintenance of campus facilities
(required to work irregular hours and on weekends).
Requirements : 5 passes in HKCEE including Chinese
Language, Mathematics and English Language (at least
Grade C if Syllabus A) plus 1-2 years' working
experience. Familiar with building and electronic
facilities knowledge. Registered electrical worker
preferred. High initiative and hardworking is a must.
(5)Research Fellow/Research Assistant in the Department of
Biology and Chemistry (Appointment for 12 to 24 months)

Area of Excellence : Centre for Marine Environmental
Research and Innovative Technology
Duties : Participate in a wide range of research
programmes in marine environmental sciences and
technologies in the above Area of Excellence in the
University.
Requirements : A PhD for the post of Research Fellow and
a good honours degree for the post of Research Assistant
in molecular biology, biochemistry, toxicology, cell
biology, functional genomics, immunology, environmental
biology, or analytical chemistry.
(6)Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant in the
Accounting and Corporate Governance Centre (Appointment
for 12 months with possibility of extension) [Ref.

Duties : Responsible for conducting complex research
analysis, collecting and validating extensive financial
data.
Requirements : A good honours degree or equivalent
professional qualification in Statistics/Econometrics,
with substantial experience in advanced
statistical/econometrics software packages (e.g. SAS,
SPSS) and in handling extensive financial databases.
For the post of Senior Research Assistant, a Master's
degree plus 1 year's experience is required.
(7)Research Assistant in the Department of Building and
Construction (Appointment for 6 months) [Ref.

Project : Developing Application of Self-compacting
Concrete to Enhance Quality, Cost Effectiveness,
Buildability and to Reduce Noise Nuisance in Public
Housing Construction
Duties : Evaluate and examine the performance of self
compacting concrete in terms of quality, cost
effectiveness, buildability and noise reduction ability
by construction decision-making optimization model.
Requirements : A good honours degree in Building
Engineering or equivalent with 1 year's working
experience in a construction site. Outstanding
communication skills with high level of proficiency in
English required.
(8)Research Assistant in the Department of Computer
Engineering and Information Technology (Appointment for

Duties : Create a graphical user interface to capture
Chinese handwriting samples, perform handwriting
analysis with pen computing and pattern recognition
techniques, develop a prototype to evaluate handwriting
quality and provide feedback to users.
Requirements : A good honours degree/Master's degree in
Computer Science or a related discipline with
experience in graphical user interface programming, pen
computing or programming with pen based devices such as
PDA, Tablet PC. Need to deliver output on time.

(1)Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the School
of Creative Media [Ref. D/019/00]
Duties : The School was founded in 1998, and since then has
developed strengths in media studies, video production,
photography, computer animation, and computer graphics. It
offers an exciting multidisciplinary research and teaching
environment in which technical and creative faculty cooperate
on a variety of projects. Its current priority is to expand
and consolidate the digital media emphasis, including digital
sound, computer graphics, computer animation, multimedia and
interaction. There are several openings and appointees are
expected to undertake teaching and research in the areas of
digital media, digital sound, and computer animation.
Requirements : A recognized terminal degree in their field with
an interest in both the technical and creative sides of modern
media. A PhD in computer science or electrical engineering
with a media background, or an MFA with a strong technical
background are both acceptable. Industrial experience is an
asset. For senior appointment, candidates are expected to have
established research and teaching records.

(2)Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of

Duties : The Department of Management, one of six academic
departments in the Faculty of Business, conducts teaching and
research in the broad area of management, including

qualifications and experience.

Principal of the College
The University is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced
candidate for the post of Principal of College to lead its
development.
The College and its mission
The College, a new self-financed entity to be established by City
University of Hong Kong, will commence operations in July 2004. It
is mandated to offer, primarily, Associate Degree programmes, Pre-
Associate Degree programmes and top-up degree programmes. As the
largest provider of Associate Degree programmes in Hong Kong, the
College will continue to provide a wide range of sub-degree
programmes in a wide spectrum of disciplines which will prepare
students for the world of work or articulation to degree studies.
The new College is expected to contribute to meeting the growing need
for a high quality workforce to serve the knowledge-based economy in
Hong Kong.
The Challenge
The College will be operated as a financially independent unit with
substantial autonomy on matters relating to personnel, physical
plant, business operations and academic matters within its remit.
The incumbent is expected to provide executive leadership in an
academic setting, to plan and formulate policies to develop the
College into a financially successful and leading provider in sub-
degree education.
