(Appointment for 12 months)
Duties : For post (1) : Develop French language and
culture to undergraduate students from beginner to
intermediate level; further develop the existing French
courses and extra-curricular activities; assist in the
coordination of European language courses; and perform
other duties as assigned by the Head of Department. For
post (2) : Develop Spanish language and culture to
undergraduate students from beginner to intermediate
level; further develop the existing Spanish courses and
extra-curricular activities; assist in the coordination
of European language courses; and perform other duties
as assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements : A Master's degree in a relevant field.
For appointment as Temporary Instructor I, a post-
graduate qualification and at least 4 years'
appropriate post-graduate full time teaching experience
is required. Relevant experience at tertiary level
would be an advantage. Appointment is renewable
pending satisfactory performance.
(3)Temporary Instructor II in the School of Creative Media
(Appointment for 12 months) [Ref. D/R/018/03]
Duties : Expected to be in one of the following areas
of specialization: video production/editing, computer
games, computer animation, computer graphics,
multimedia & interaction, digital sound,
camera/lighting, image processing. He/she will be
involved in the design of individual courses; assist in
the teaching of courses; perform administrative and/or
other teaching duties as assigned by the Dean of the
School that may include supervising students' projects
and other activities of learning, including preparation
of study materials; and perform other duties as
assigned by the Dean.
Requirements : A good honours degree and/or a Master's
degree in the related discipline, or an MFA with a
strong technical background including programming.
Good language and communication skills, and the ability
to work on multiple tasks and under pressure are
essential. Relevant professional qualification and
relevant working experience is preferable.
Monthly Salary (currently under review) and Conditions of
Service
Instructor I : HK$28,700 - $45,375
Instructor II : HK$21,548 - $27,408
Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental
consultations at the campus clinic.

Duties : Teach "Marketing Research", "Consumer
Behaviour" and other Marketing courses, organize
student activities and perform administrative duties.
Requirements : A good honours degree/Master's degree
/PhD in Marketing or related field with at least 2
years' working experience in marketing research related

(2) Temporary Executive Officer I/II in the Faculty of

Duties : Provide administrative support for the Faculty
Office. The major duties include inter alia, committee

Requirements : A good honours degree with at least 3

I respectively. A good command of written and spoken
English as well as proficiency in Putonghua and Chinese
writing skill are required. Shortlisted candidates

(3)Temporary Clerical Officer II in the College
(Appointment for 2-3 months up to 30 June 2004) [Ref.
C/R/419/03]
Duties : Provide clerical support; assist in
maintaining an e-paper filing system, and organizing
departmental functions/activities; liaise with
local/overseas institutions; assist in student
admission/promotion and student affairs matters;
provide frontline support services, handle enquiries
and perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements : 5 passes in HKCEE including Chinese
Language, Mathematics and English Language (at least
Grade C if Syllabus A) with at least 1 year's relevant
working experience. Good knowledge in PC software such
as MS Office, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe Acrobat,
Adobe Photoshop and Chinese word-processing; good
command of written and spoken English and Chinese
(Cantonese and Putonghua); good interpersonal skills;
and the ability to work independently are required.
Preference will be given to candidates with high
computer literacy. Shortlisted candidates will be

(4)Senior Research Assistant (Architectural Studies) in
the Division of Building Science and Technology
(Appointment for 12 months) [Ref. C/R/422/03]
Duties : Responsible for research on and development of
teaching, learning and support materials for the
recently implemented Associate of Science in
Architectural Studies (AScAS) curriculum based on
problem-based learning approaches. The successful
candidate will work under the direction of the AScAS
Programme Leader to conduct research on and prepare new
course materials for both educational and
administrative purposes, review and evaluate all
existing teaching and learning materials for subsequent
updating, coordinate the design and production of
learning packages, coordinate the maintenance and
operation of the online programme management system,
and perform other duties relevant to the development of
the new curriculum.
Requirements : A good honours degree/professional
degree in Architecture (a second degree in the form of
a Master of Architecture or equivalent). Preference
will be given to candidates with relevant teaching,
research and/or industrial working experience.
(5)Research Assistant in the Department of Management
Sciences (Appointment for 12 months) [Ref. B/R/338/03]
Duties : Carry out related research in cyber logistics
with experts in the field; disseminate research
findings and industry trends via Web technology; and
manage a knowledge base of the industry, with special
focus on air cargo logistics in the Asia-Pacific
region.
Requirements : A Master's degree in Economics,
Operation Management, Information System, or a related
area with good command of English and Chinese.
(6) Part-time Lecturers in the Department of Marketing

Duties : Teach "Fundamental in Public Relations",

Principal of the College
The University is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced
candidate for the post of Principal of College to lead its
development.
The College and its mission
The College, a new self-financed entity to be established by City
University of Hong Kong, will commence operations in July 2004. It
is mandated to offer, primarily, Associate Degree programmes, Pre-
Associate Degree programmes and top-up degree programmes. As the
largest provider of Associate Degree programmes in Hong Kong, the
College will continue to provide a wide range of sub-degree
programmes in a wide spectrum of disciplines which will prepare
students for the world of work or articulation to degree studies.
The new College is expected to contribute to meeting the growing need
for a high quality workforce to serve the knowledge-based economy in
Hong Kong.
The Challenge
The College will be operated as a financially independent unit with
substantial autonomy on matters relating to personnel, physical
plant, business operations and academic matters within its remit.
The incumbent is expected to provide executive leadership in an
academic setting, to plan and formulate policies to develop the
College into a financially successful and leading provider in sub-
degree education.
