Hmm. I think ld is supposed to recognise 64-bits from the class of
the first object, and adjust it's paths accordingly, to
/usr/lib/sparcv9 or something like that.
You don't have environment variables LD_LIBRARY_PATH or
LD_LIBRARY_PATH_64 or maybe LD_OPTIONS set?
