It worked when I use 'gmake'. Therefore as far as I'm concerned I'm
not affected by this problem but perhaps you might want to add this
problem to the section 2.5 "Known Build Problem".
Are you bulding in the source directory, or from a separate object
code directory?
I assume you're using a separate object code directory.
You should not expect the system `make' to work in that case,
as stated in the GMP manual.
