Hello Rob,

I found out that the recent layout changes don't quite work in
unsophisticated browsers such as NetSurf : images don't squeeze properly
and the menu link is not visible. It would also be nice to center the
menu list, because those browsers don't understand @media, so they use
the same layout on small and large screens.

Another problem, which affects all browsers on narrow screens: the main
headings should link to the home page, except the one on the home page
itself. Otherwise, people will have to scroll down to find this link in
the menu.

The attached diff tries to fix that.
