We can't have external links as articles themselves.
We're not a web diretory! The idea is to have a
coherent collection of information, not a slightly
more controlled Google search engine! All articles
must be written for and put onto GNE. 
In terms of external references, the danger is that
the link becomes broken (I like the idea of the
redirection utility checking and flagging a link), or
that the page changes its content to either something
irrelevant or non-free. We don't have the manpower or
will to go around checking thousands of links to make
sure they conform to the GNU policy. So I think any
references should be internal, or names of
books/companys/web sites (with no links).
