We only build and test on Win32 architectures using Cygwin. On
Cygwin the procedure is "./configure ; make". I believe that
"-mno-cygwin" may also work, although the Cygwin environment is
not a substantial overhead on Windows for GNU Chess AFAIK, as
the main performance issues are all CPU/memory issues.

Others may have built GNU Chess with Mingw in the past, but I
haven't received a maintainable patch of the required changes.

BTW: Test versions of 5.05 are available at
http://www.wretched.demon.co.uk/505

Executable versions of the 5.05 test version have been made
available by a couple of contributors to the gnu.chess
newsgroup.

At this point I've received no reports that would prevent this
5.05 test release from proceeding to become an official 5.05
release.
