Hi James,

we need the position, and ideally move history, to establish if the move
is illegal or not.

Also please let us know the version of GNU Chess in use, and the
interface being used.

Currently GNU Chess 5 is the only supported version. The illegal move
message was introduced at 5.04, and we have had no valid reports of
legal move issues with the code since before 5.04.

Maybe it is a move syntax issue as capture with promotion to queen would
be something like gxh8=Q
