Thanks for the report Gert,

I can not reproduce this under Xboard (no W2K here) and GNU Chess 5.07.

5.02 did have some problems with editting positions.

5.07 is available for download, but I am withholding the official
announcement until I have time to sort out some minor formatting errors
in the opening book on the GNU ftp site.

A number of people have announced 5.06 binaries for Windows in the
gnu.chess newsgroup. In most cases you can just replace the gnuche5.exe
executable, with an updated one.

I suggest you try updating.
