default-directory documentation

From: Robert Marshall
Subject: default-directory documentation
Date: Mon, 25 Sep 2000 09:04:55 +0100 (GMT Daylight Time)

This bug report will be sent to the Free Software Foundation,
not to your local site managers!!
Please write in English, because the Emacs maintainers do not have
translators to read other languages for them.

In GNU Emacs 20.7.1 (i386-*-nt4.0.1381)
of Tue Jun 13 2000 on buffy
configured using `configure NT'

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

I start emacs (20.7) with -q and load my .emacs, doing a
describe-variable on default-directory, I get: default-directory's
value is "c:/elisp/" Local in buffer .emacs; global value is nil
Documentation: Name of default directory of current buffer. Should end
with slash. Each buffer has its own value of this variable. That's
fine - don't have a problem so far.

But then if I load-library dired-x and repeat the describe-variable it
thinks the variable is defined in dired-x (which it isn't, but there
seems to be a function of that name there). If I position the cursor
on the highlighted dired-x and type enter (help-follow), an error
occurs with the text that dired-x is not in the path, which it is (in
the path that is!) dired-x is the emacs 20.7.1. version.
