Final comment on this. Before installing 19.34, I hunted around
for an installed copy of emacs. (using find / ...). Only a few small
files (key definition type of things) showed up. Hunted around on
the CD, didn't find it there either. Both the book that came with the
CD and the mail seem to suggest it ought to be there right on the
CD. As a last resort, I tried a re-install and manually inspected
every package. Nope, not there. Re-ran the installation and watched
the default package installation. Still not there. I think it is pretty
safe to say, it isn't on the CD. So I guess I will have to try to download
and install another copy of emacs. Will try 20.7 this time (and, no
won't lecture you on the reason for 19, but there was one which
I hope is no longer valid).
