Wrong behaviour of ange-ftp wrt buffer modifications

In GNU Emacs 20.7.1 (i386-*-nt4.0.1381)
 of Tue Jun 13 2000 on buffy
configured using `configure NT'

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

[jschmidt] emacs -q &

C-x C-f /host:.bashrc
enter password (at this point the lossage below starts)
insert three linefeeds
C-x C-s
undo three times

After the first undo the buffer modification flag indicates that the
buffer is modified (which is correct).  Same is true after the second
undo.  After the third undo buffer modification flag changes back to
"non-modified" which is wrong!
