Its copyright is now "GNU Public License, Version 1" (since at least
version 5.56, around 1994/03/28 -- we're on 6.92 now).  What more could
it possibly need?  Surely you don't want him to give up ownership too!

It's been there for nearly forever -- Kyle recently got fed up with the
spam leaking into the mailing list because of cross-postings to the
group (and he's not at UUNET any more, where the list was hosted), so he
decided to ditch the mailing list and live with just the group(s).

I'd much rather have a list, even if it is like most of the lists at
gnu.org and filled with cross-posted spam (though I'm sure I'd also
complain to <postmaster@gnu.org> and point out various simple and
effective techniques for blocking most spam).

Yup.  (well, there are so many internationalisation bugs in 20 that the
most recent releases just barely work with 20.7, though some VM users
seem to stick with 19.34 too.  I've used it with 20.x all along and
simply suffered occasional corruption of messages with broken multi-byte
characters -- it works much better with the 21 pretests, almost perfectly.)

        VM is a Lisp-based mail reading interface that runs under
        GNU Emacs and XEmacs.
