Besides the current guesses near this line,
dired-x.el:956: (concat dired-guess-shell-gnutar " zxvf")
how about adding additional guesses for "tvf", and the same for other
archive formats encountered... [cpio...] viewing the table of contents
would be a reasonable second guess [accessible via ESC P] to extraction.
