In my setup, C-SPC is the last thing I will ever type in a emacs
window, it causes an xcin entry window to pop up that cannot be
removed [without crashing everything] that as best can be moved to the
side out of the way.  As C-SPC is reserved for xcin, I have bound
set-mark-command to C-@ ["C-2"]... which makes it as difficult as C-\.

OK, glad to hear future emacs can use xcin which i at present use in
$ emacs -nw
windows...
