Sending a one-line email to number-done@bugs.debian.org is quick
and easy, or even easier is closing a bunch of bugs with a single
email to control@bugs.debian.org like so:

 close 100000
 close  57005
 close 101001
 tags  101056 unreproducible

It's very easy.

It's much more efficient for me as a maintainer to get a list of
all open bugs against my stuff by viewing
http://bugs.debian.org/psg@debian.org than to sort through my
mail folders (I know; I still do that for some projects, and I
always loose track of a few things).

If you don't want to maintain a BTS, put the Emacs project on
sf.net and use that interface for CVS and bug tracking.  I prefer
an email interface to bug tracking, but SourceForge is free (as
in air) and works without significant overhead for the
maintainers.
