Yet another coredump of 20.7

In GNU Emacs 20.7.1 (sparc-sun-solaris2.7, Motif)
 of Fri Jun 23 2000 on giraffe
configured using `configure  --with-gcc --with-x-toolkit=motif --with-pop'

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

I have seen this happen before, and probably reported it before.  I
suspect it may have been fixed.  I do NOT know how to reproduce it,
but it has happened before, not very frequently.  

I run reportmail (1.7) which has a bug/feature that when it tried to
load up the current mail, in order to report what mail has arrived, if
the file has funny characters in it, it ask **interactively** to
supply a coding system or some such.  Which is silly if Emacs is
running unattended (say I left if running in the office overnight).  

So usually, I either type RET or C-g or something at this prompt and
life goes on.   But once in a while I type RET (I am pretty sure it
was RET and not C-g) and Emacs core dumps at this point.

I have the core dump but was told (gently) that mailing them it is not
so clever, besides not being useful.
