Do I understand correctly that the cursor shape changes and starts
blinking when you enter Emacs, and it stays that way when you exit
Emacs? (Sorry I'm running FreeBSD, so I can't reproduce this in the
first place).
If that is the case, it has probably nothing to do with
blink-cursor-mode. I'm not aware of anything that fiddles with the
cursor shape or hardware cursor blinking in Emacs. Maybe there's
a problem with TERM setting?
