When I first read the spanish tutorial (during the pretest) I started
to retranslate it too (I've been a technical translator for several
years) but I stopped because:

a) I'm not sure whether translating it to "clasic" Spanish, as you say,
is a worthy goal. I don't see why castillian spanish, as much as I
like it over other spanish variants, should be preferred. There are
lots more latin-american spanish speakers than spaniard ones :)

b) Even if you and me don't like the result, the fact is that there's
already *a lot* of work done, and would be a disrespect for the
translator(s) ignoring what they've done.

I believe the best answer is collaborating with the original
translator(s) to try to find some common ground.

I really doubt that people who says Emacs is not user friendly will
find it much easier just by having a tutorial and reference card, but
perhaps you're right.
