It's difficult to satisfy everyone.  If the *VC-Log* buffer
was popped into a new window, then your suggestion would mean
that after commit, the new window would be left around
displaying some random buffer.

Until a satisfactory answer is found, we should probably just
make sure that users can set the behavior to the one they prefer.
