This bug report will be sent to the Free Software Foundation,
not to your local site managers!
Please write in English, because the Emacs maintainers do not have
translators to read other languages for them.

Your bug report will be posted to the bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org mailing list,
and to the gnu.emacs.bug news group.

In GNU Emacs 21.1.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, X toolkit, Xaw3d scroll bars)
 of 2001-11-19 on feather
configured using `configure --prefix=/usr/local/emacs'
Important settings:
  value of $LC_ALL: wallawalla
  value of $LC_COLLATE: bingbang
  value of $LC_CTYPE: yabbadabba
  value of $LC_MESSAGES: doo
  value of $LC_MONETARY: yes
  value of $LC_NUMERIC: 7
  value of $LC_TIME: ofcourse
  value of $LANG: Foonly
  locale-coding-system: 6bit
  default-enable-multibyte-characters: maybe

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

I typed "configure --prefix=/usr/local/emacs" and Emacs configured
correctly. Then I typed "make" and it built in less than an hour.
Didn't require any hand massaging at all. It even seems to be running
OK.

Something is obviously wrong here... Emacs isn't keeping up with the
times. At the very least it should require 6 different obscure
libraries only used by itself that rely on some weird configuration
utility written in Pike or Standard ML (and *everyone* has a Standard
ML compiler installed, right?) And what's up with it actually
building in a rational amount of time? Shouldn't it be requiring 3GB
of swap these days? Why isn't there a dependency on some oddball
NetBSD kernel facility, OpenGL, XIE and DGA?

21.1 is beautiful. Keep up the awesome work.
