Amen, brother, amen, amen.  But let's not forget that this is the
church of Emacs, not the church of GNU.  Emacs descends to the sinners
and evildoers and sits among their tables and preaches the worth of
the true way while eating with the unworthy ones.  And while it is
doing that, it better not have the morsels of the unsavory food there
drooping distastefully from its beard.  Fails to make a good
impression.

Emacs is a haven unto those forced into Windows.  From the above, BTW,
I get the impression that the first thing you should throw out, free
or not, is Cygwin.  Emacs can be compiled with Mingw32, and that tries
a whole lot less to make Windows something it isn't in the first
place.
