These messages mean that Emacs cannot find the programs (Bash and
`ls'), but the "succ`ess" part probably means that the OS thinks no
error happened.  That's very strange...

What is your value of exec-path?  Are the directories where Bash and
`ls' live mentioned in exec-path?
