I've successfully built emacs-21.1 under Solaris-2.6 (SunOS 5.6) for Intel x86. But whenever I run the binary, I get: % ./emacs *** Signal 11 - core dumped (ignored)

FWIW, I have used emacs 21.1 both unders Solaris 2.6 and 2.8

For what CPU did you build on those platforms? Was that an Intel x86
or something else?

The Solaris 2.6 was ix86, 2.8 was for Sparc. Unfortunately, I don't have the x86 version any more.

If it's x86, do you have a __do_global_ctors_aux symbol in your binary
(you can use the GDB "info symbol" command to find out)?

Well, _do_global_ctors_aux is defined in emacs.c, and I have it under Linux. It seems to get defined if you build with gcc.
