OK, then say that there in Info, otherwise the user won't know it
can't be done, and will ask over and over ;-)

But if one can do
$ xli -fullscreen 
then certainly emacs, with its ./configure stuff, can maybe please do
it next time.

[huh, me confuse RMS?  Ahh, he never guessed what I wanted is so simple:]

the goal is to make emacs occupy all of [my 15 inch] monitor except
for the window manager toolbar [which lies on the bottom of the
screen].  I must start emacs, then hit ALT F10 in the icewm window
manager to do this.  This is the maximize button, the same as found in
in the upper right corner of your screen probably.

All I did was experiment with different combos in ~/.Xdefaults till I
got the effect.

Hmm, back in the emacs -nw days, one had to divulge $ROWS, $COLUMNS
info to emacs to get what one wants... no magic ALT F10 bullet... well
ok, never mind that...

Naw, it's just too simple: do
$ xli -fullscreen file.jpg
notice how it occupies the full screen?  True there is some stuff
covered by the tool bar, but still, why cant emacs do that?  OK, Eli
said why.  Well, at least I hope you see what I'm asking for is super
simple [to visualize].
