M-x grep should ask to write files first, like M-x compile

M-x grep should ask the user if he wants to write each outstanding
file, just like its sister command M-x compile does.

Example: you are trying to clean up some junk in some files,
you find some and clean some, and then want to see if there's any junk
left still.  Instead you'll just get the same results as last time
because nobody reminded you to write your files.

Of course if one greps in some unrelated doc directory, it would be
annoying to be asked about saving files when you possible weren't
ready to.

By the way, I have some unrelated newbie log entries:

the user notices during data entry at the end of a line, the words
"loading newcomment" in the minibuffer.  he then tries apropos on
newcomment, and find the one single word "newcomment", and nothing
more.  he feels rejected and doesnt look in other places.

I noticed that many times M-! seq 1 2 would only show line 1 of the
output in the minibuffer, whereas in a fresh emacs -q the mininbuffer
would become 2 lines as expected.  i cant control occurrence of this
to give a good example currently.  also, hmm, after a few hours the
scroll bar disappeared today... hmmm

I will get back to you if I can pin it down.
