Thanks for the feedback.

Is there a way to change the configuration of the buffer *mail*
so that a kill-buffer is asking 'are you sure ?' instead
of silently killing the buffer ?
(if this is possible, it should maybe be configured like that by
default).

mail-recover is not designed to handle the case where you have killed
the mail buffer.  It is hard to handle that case, because the
auto save file name has been lost.
