Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Several versions ago, you eliminated the reverse video property in any non 
active buffer.
This is annoying because it inhibits my visually comparing two buffers. With
my dislexic brain, it is difficult.  My eyes benefit from reverse video to help 
them
look at the right point in each buffer efficiently.

It seems to me that Bell Lab's SAM editor by Rob Pike handled this problem 
correctly
 and that emacs would do well to follow suit.  It merely requires making both 
point and
mark local buffer attributes.  That way, I can look at two positions in the 
same file with 
highlighting that is not strange.  Currently, emacs keeps point for each 
buffer.  Surely, 
keeping a mark for each buffer rather than a single global mark for a file 
would not 
particularly challenge any developer's coding skills or offend any user's 
sensibilities.
