The starting point is the C-level backtrace produced by a debugger
when Emacs crashes.  Can you post that?

In addition, please try invoking Emacs with "emacs -q --no-site-file",
then turn on font-lock with "M-x global-font-lock-mode RET", and then
edit Fortran files and see whether there's any change in behavior,
like if the crashes go away or become much less frequent.  If the
crashes disappear, there's probably something in your .emacs or
site-start file that causes them, so please try to find out what that
other factor is.
