Did you try that inside Emacs (e.g., with "M-:")? I get a numeric
exception when I do that, which is what I'd expect. But my system is
different from yours, so perhaps the effect is system-dependent.
I don't know what ielm does.
M-: produces exactly the same results as ielm on my system.
Does your system support NaN or infinities at all?
