and the precise symptoms of the bug:



Version 21.1 of emacs has changed the meaning of the home and end keys to mean
the same as ^A and ^E.  One must use ^home and ^end to get the previous effect 
of top of file and end of file.  In previous versions of emacs, the home and
end keys caused the cursor to go to the top of file and end of file.

I want to complain about this change.  I must now use two hands to get a top
of file and end of file action whereas before I only needed one hand.  It seems
to me that since any user in any version of emacs can get to the beginning of
a line and the end of a line with one hand using ^A and ^E, that they don't
merit yet another one handed way of doing that.  That is especially true when
the cost is losing one handed access to top of file and end of file.  Another
reason to go back to the old meaning is that most PC programs use home and end
for top of file and end of file also.

I suggest letting ^home and ^end be used for beginning of line and end of line
and keeping home and end for top of file and end of file.
