C-h a goal RET:
set-goal-column               C-x C-n
  Command: Set the current horizontal position as a goal for C-n and C-p.

Hey, wait a second, what about the arrow keys?  why don't you mention
the arrow keys?  Why do you want users to press control when they
don't have too?  _Admit_ the arrow keys.

By they way, when warned "hit space to use this command just once", I
thought, "well '1' would be a good response to mean 'once', but ok SPC
bar is a bigger target", so no quibble here.
