query-replace: comma then C-r means we will be asked twice

What is the deal in query-replace [dired-do-query-replace-regexp]?
Every time I hit a comma, then a C-r to enter recursive edit, when I
return from recursive edit [using M-C-c], I am asked again if I wish
to replace the same spot that I just replaced moments ago with the
comma.

So naturally I must reply DEL [=no].
