Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

When using gud-mode in this version of emacs running under X with python-mode,
the arrow that points to the currently executing line is hidden.  It can
usually be made to reappear by redrawing the screen (C-c C-l).  If I remove
all references to "(require 'python-mode)" from site-start and ~/.emacs, the
arrow re-appears.  This was mentioned in May in gnu.emacs.help[1].
