This bug report will be sent to the Free Software Foundation,
not to your local site managers!
Please write in English, because the Emacs maintainers do not have
translators to read other languages for them.

Your bug report will be posted to the bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org mailing list,
and to the gnu.emacs.bug news group.

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

When switching to the swedish locale on gnu/linux redhat 9, dired mode
fails.
it seems like this is because the localized ls command outputs months
in swedish format, and dired fails to recognize this. The dired
regexps to recognize a file or direcotry fails, so you cant "find
file" on a dired line(you cant press return or f to open a file on a
line because emacs doesnt consider the line to represent a file
because the regexps hasn't matched).

i can switch to "lisp-ls" but that has other bugs(ls-lisp doesnt seem to care
about the locale, and which is why it works). I also tried
aliasing my /bin/ls to a shellscript with "LANG=en;/bin/lsorg" where
lsorg was my initial ls command. This isnt flawless either.

I havent found where the dired generates its ls output yet, otherwise
I'd be able to give you a patch maybe.

The best solution would be if dired would respect the locale, but outputing the
months in english is better than not working at all.

/joakim
