Hourglass gets stuck

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

When trying to switch the hourglass pointer off, it gets stuck as an
hourglass and I have to kill emacsan.

I do:

M-x customize-group<ret>
cursor<ret>

The default for "Hourglass pointer" is on.
I click on "Toggle" to toggle it off.
I click on "State" and select "Set for Current Session"

The cursor switches to an hourglass pointer & stays that way.
