ASIAN PRIVATE EQUITY 300 GUIDE
The format for the 2004 Guide to Venture Capital in Asia, now in its 15th year, marks a sharp departure from past editions. It’s structure and contents reflect Asian private equity’s increasingly global dimensions as well as the changing contours of its investment activity. Rather than only listing fund managers by country, the Editors have divided the Region’s private equity and venture capital firms into six major categories:

Global/Regional Funds
CVC Asia Pacific, Newbridge, Walden, and more ...

Government & Multilateral Funds
CDC Capital Partners, EDBV Management, OPIC, and more ...

Specialty Funds
Authosis, Coller Capital, Ripplewood, TVG, and more ...

Corporate Venture Capital Groups
Legend Capital, Intel Capital, QUALCOMM Ventures, and more ...

Fund-of-Funds
Adveq, Capital Z, HarbourVest, Pantheon, TIF, and more ...

Country Funds
Gresham Private Equity (Australia), Shenzhen Capital Group (China), ChrysCapital (India), MKS Partners (Japan), Ilshin Investment (Korea), Concord Venture Capital (Taiwan), Dragon Capital (Vietnam), and more ...

We have also made The Guide easier to use by returning to one volume and incorporating a significant online component. Despite the industry downturn, the number of funds has continued to proliferate. AVCJ’s annual survey counted 1,560 firms at the end of June 2003, versus 1,510 in 2002 and 1,460 in 2001. All too many of these firms are present in name only. Thus, The Guide highlights the "Asian Private Equity 300", the Region’s most dominant and active firms.
