Problems with GNU emacs 21.4a

Some days ago I had some problems with the version 21.4a
of GNU/Emacs. Since they probably have origin in a bug introduced with
this new version of Emacs, I decided to send you a copy of the email
sent to the administrators of the Slackware package system.

Hi folks, my name is Ivano Primi. I am running
Slackware 10.1 on my notebook (an i386 notebook). I use an italian
keyboard (layout 'qwerty-it') and emacs is my preferred word processor.
Under X11, to obtain the characters {, },` and ~ I have to press
'AltGr' + 7, 0, ? and i` respectively.
I use these keystrokes since the first time I started to work under Linux
and I have never had problems (I always used an italian keyboard).
After a security alert regarding the version 21.3 of Emacs installed
together with Slackware 10.1,
yesterday I did the upgrade to the version 21.4a of emacs and, under X11,
the pressure of the key 'AltGr' caused the emission of a Ctrl-G
character (^G, ascii code 07). For instance, the pressure of
'AltGr' and 7 caused the emission of a ^G followed by the
expected characer (i.e. { ).
This is really unpleasant: The ^G character makes the computer
produce a "beep".
Moreover, and this is really important, under Emacs ^G is a user break
command: you can type Ctrl+G whenever you want to interrupt a command.
In this way with the new version of Emacs it was impossible to me
to start a search for a string containing one of the characters
{, }, ` or ~: for instance, when I pressed 'AltGr' and 7 to mean a {,
the emission of a ^G character caused the interruption of the
current command, that is to say the interruption of the search !
Probably it was better to address this email to the
Emacs development group, but I was not sure.
If you think it is more appropriate, you can forward this email to them.
I know that, starting from the version 21.4, some stuff for the Unicode
support has been added to Emacs.
Maybe this is the origin of the problem ?
