Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:


It seems  to me that  the emacs distribution should  provide analogous
motion/deletion  (etceteras)  commands  to forward-char  backward-char
(etceteras) with  "field" substituted for "char".   These should split
in the  same way that the emacs  sorter does, or perhaps  as does gawk
with a programable split pattern.  For my use "field" is just about
always equal to or preferable to "word".
